SPECIAL UPDATE: Have a Merry Christmas and Happy and Safe New Year!

Many careers in Law Enforcement...

...have begun with participation in the Police Explorers program. Many of Tampa's full time officers originated from the Explorer program which has been in existence for over 30 years.

"Explorers go on ride-a-longs with officers, assist in records, crime analysis, communications, and other areas of the department."

Police Explorers are youth ranging in age from 14 years to 21 years. They go on ride-a-longs with officers, assist in records, crime analysis, communications, and other areas of the department. Explorers wear a uniform, which they are required to purchase when accepted into the program. Explorers are required to attend one monthly meeting and other details as they arise. Explorers obtain training to assist them in possible Law Enforcement careers to include but not limited to, traffic control, report writing, fingerprinting, and many other Law Enforcement related topics.

Included in their training is a chance to try out for the award winning pistol team. The pistol team has a long tradition of being a winning team. Team Tampa won the 1996-97, 1997-98 & 2003-04 Florida Association of Police Explorers Pistol Championship!

Community service is a main function of the Post. We take part in events such as children's finger printing; Kids expo's and other special events within the community. The Post Color Guard has had the honor of presenting the colors at several community events. This is a specialty team within the Post.
